If you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, you will probably do the same thing as I did when I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer), or my wife when she was diagnosed
Breast Cancer. You will go on the internet and try to get as much information as possible.

And that is a good thing in general; however, there is also a downside to it. First, you will get an overload of information that won’t be easy to interpret and process properly. Secondly, you may draw wrong conclusions. It is not easy to understand all the new lingo and put all the bits and pieces together to a puzzle that makes some sense. So in addition to taking all the questions you have to your Health Care Professionals and doctors, you may also want to join an online mesothelioma forum.

When I got diagnosed with cancer I joined two forums and started my own internet blog. And I have to say, it worked out very well for me. Because I received a lot of valuable input from other cancer patients – including some with mesothelioma cancer – that helped me to ask my doctor the right questions and make better decisions regarding my own cancer treatment plan.

One of the typical questions a newly diagnosed mesothelioma cancer patient has: how is the prognosis when diagnosed with the disease? It is certainly a good idea to use Google to get some answers, however a mesothelioma forum might be the better choice as you speak to real people.

Sometimes you might even close with someone and you can speak to each other on the phone. That for instance, happened to my wife. She was diagnosed with breast cancer and joined an alternative cancer treatment forum on www.breastcancer.org. She got to know of people some of whom she became close friends with.

An asbestosis diagnosis is a devastating thing, as probably every other new cancer diagnosis is, too. You need to make sure that you get the right help and the best for that aside from the medical advice and treatments, is the emotional support form people who went through all this already. They will be able to provide you with first hand tips and tricks how to cope with your situation. And they will be able to explain things to you in a way you will understand.

So if you have been diagnosed with mesothelioma cancer, I strongly recommend to you in joining one of the many mesothelioma forums out there.
