It doesn't matter whether you are in the USA or anywhere else. They are all over the place, it's impossible not to see them. Breast cancer bracelets are everywhere. They symbolize a symbiosis of a fashion statement alongside a confession of one's support for the breast cancer awareness movement.
Breast cancer awareness bracelets are not the only cancer wrist bands out there. They are available in all different colors. And each color stands for a different kind of cancer. For example, there is a yellow bracelet and that's a support symbol for prostate cancer. And of course, there is the pink breast cancer awareness bracelet, which is probably the most common one. If someone buys and wears a breast cancer bracelet, it is probably because he wants to do two things: demonstrating his support of the charitable movements and also creating awareness of the disease itself.
Interestingly enough, the breast cancer bracelets don't seem to be solely attractive to "young kids" only. People of all ages wear them visibly to others all the time. Further to that, they seem to work equally well across political borders. The other day, there was an US senator prominently showing his pink breast cancer awareness bracelet to the cameras. And, yes, they are pink for a reason. Pink stands out from other colors. And I think the "Pink" has also grown into a kind of brand. Think about it for a second. What is your first thought coming to mind when you think of "Pink"? Maybe "Think pink"? The symbol works on every kind of media: t-shirts, caps, visor, towels, toys and so forth.
“The Pink” as grown into a mass movement. And celebrities use this platform for their own advertisement. Some of them are cancer victims themselves; others are in support of a loved who got diagnosed with breast cancer. The statistics say that every 8th woman in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer. And my wife has breast cancer, too. It was in March of 2009, when we received her diagnosis. Little we knew back then, about breast cancer and cancer in general. We had to learn a lot, and everywhere we looked, the pink breast cancer bracelet was always there. To our taste, it might have been a little bit too much.
But nevertheless, we don't doubt at all that the original idea was very honorable and faithful. The breast cancer awareness bracelets don't cost much and are a great way to demonstrate your support of the initiative. I am sure; the whole campaign is making a lot of money. And that money is desperately needed. Because we still have yet to find a cure for the disease.
