The Celotex insulation products
It was in September of 1980 when the widowed wife of Louis H. Catrett sued several asbestos manufacturing companies – including Celotex - and building supply distributors. The charges were filed based on evidence that her husband died because he was exposed to asbestos due to negligence on part of the entities on the defendant's side. The case was handled by the United States District Court (District of Columbia).
Two out of the fifteen initially sued companies successfully filed for dismissal based on lack of in personam jurisdiction. The court granted the filing.
It then went on with the remaining 13 companies filing motions based on other grounds. Catrett fought back with counterclaims. It appeared to be a very complicated situation with numerous courts overruling decisions of previous court rulings.
Celotex was one of the 13 companies that succeed in fighting back on the allegations of the initial charge. Celotex is a company based in the United Kingdom and specializes in the production and distribution of insulation materials.
The company claims to provide thermal insulation solutions that are fully adhering to the requirements put forward by the law and also satisfying the demands of building experts and end-users. Further to that, Celotex offers a wide ranged product portfolio, including the celotex insulation board as thin as 12mm and up to 200mm in thickness. Those kinds of insulation boards can be used on flat roofs, floors and walls.
Celotex also offers a thermal plasterboard laminate as well as a wide range of product to satisfy Class 0 requirements related to specifications for enhanced fire safety performance.
The company is known for providing a wide array of building applications, such as under floor heating, wall insulation, plus roof and floor insulation and the celotex ceiling tile solution.
I am obviously not an expert on the subject. I am just a homeowner and like to do any type of projects pertaining to my house myself if I can. From previous experience I knew how important it is to install the proper insulation when you for example plan on converting an unfinished basement into usable living space.
Spending some extra money on high quality insulation, can safe you a lot of money on heating later on. So when it was time to put up the sheet rock, I made sure that the walls got insulated with 20mm insulation boards from Celotex beforehand. Now, two years later, I can conclude that it was worth both, the extra effort and the extra money.

My wife got diagnosed with breast-cancer in March of 2009. Seven months later I received my kidney cancer diagnosis. My left kidney had to be removed. According to the pathology report, my Renal Cell Carcinoma probably started over 20 years ago - around that time I have been exposed to high concentrations asbestos.
I am not a doctor and it is not my intention to give you advice. But this website has to purpose to share my experience with you and over course of time, it will grow into a one-stop-shop information resource around asbestos and asbestos induced diseases.
