The Facts about Asbestos Law Firms
Asbestos law firms are organizations which are instrumental in carrying out and litigating problems and issues relating to the ill effects of asbestos. The people of the United States of America are the ones who are one of the most deeply affected people and more than hundred million people have been exposed to this dreaded mineral. There are not many who have good access to health treatments for these asbestos-related diseases and if they have one, they would probably end up paying a fortune for the treatment.
Asbestos cancer and other related diseases are increasing on a daily basis now. This was once a very rare disease but now it affects almost one out of every five Americans. Asbestos law firms are coming into play over here as there are lots of people who claim their disease to be the result of the negligence of the corporate and business organizations. These affected people approach the asbestos law firms so that these firms could help them in getting the expenses relating to their medicines, lost compensations if there were any, compensation for mental and physical trauma.
Asbestos exposure and dangers relating to it has existed for many years now but the practice of approaching the asbestos law firms was started not very long ago. The first lawsuit against this was first filed in the year 1940 but it took almost twenty five years to resolve the dispute. There was one more complaint being filed in the year 1966 on the tenth of December. It was an employee of Johns-Manville who approached the asbestos law firms as he wanted to oppose his employer and other ten corporations who were involved in the business of producing such asbestos. His major accusation was that the firms were aware of the potential dangers and harms of the chemical but they did not issue any kind of warning to the surrounding people and places.
Over the years, there have been many such litigation cases filed in these asbestos law firms and the majority of the cases had accusations on the corporation or the concerned person’s lethargic attitude and unwillingness to issue warnings and making the people around alert about the possible hazards of the deadly material. There was also one case registered in 1969 with these asbestos law firms where the complainant claimed that apart from the failure of issuing warnings to the people, the manufacturers were not willing to take the products off the market when they were claimed to be dangerous to the health of the environment.
Many cases might have been filed with the asbestos law firms in the past but not many were able to win as they were not able to prove the direct relationship between the mineral and the respiratory diseases that the victims suffered from. There have been more than six thousand cases filed in these asbestos law firms and that has resulted in more than seventy US companies getting bankrupt of filling for bankruptcy. Seeing this very anti-industry trend, the US senate in 2003 on behalf of the industry people had denied the rights of the people to file cases against such companies. They instead allocated money for people who got affected by occupational exposure to asbestos.
