Well, I guess I found another misspelled version of asbestos. How about abestos, have you heard of that one, yet?

It seems that asbestos is predestinated for being misspelled. First, I found aspestos, and earlier today, I read an article where it said abestos removal instead of asbestos removal, and abestos abetement instead of asbestos abatement.

In the case of abestos though, I truly believe it is just a typo. Whereas apsestos I can actually see that some folks might pronounce it incorrectly and therefore just misspell it that way.

But as I said many times before: I am not here to critize. English is my second language only, and even though I consider my command as reasonably well, I make plenty of mistakes all the time, especially when I try to type really fast. I am really thankful to the person who invented the spell-checker. I would be done without it. But there is one thing that really surprises me: having people like you and me accidentally using abestos instead of asbestos, that's one thing. But if I read ABESTOS in the title or URL of a company that does business in that respective field, well, that is just remarkable, to say the least.

Like I said before; imagine you are a mesothelioma, asbestosis or an asbestos induced lung cancer victim, seeking for professional advice. I am sure you would be turned off by a professional who doesn't even spell his subject matter correctly, wouldn't you?

And especially considering that the whole subject of mesothelioma and the other illnesses caused by asbestos exposure is such a serious topic! Plus, think about it. We all know how much money is normally involved in mesothelioma compensation claims, let alone the large mesothelioma class action lawsuits. I think, the law offices that have abesots written in their title, deprive themselves of cashing in on a very lucrative business enterprise opportunity. But that’s not something I have to worry about.

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in October of 2009. I’m trying to picture what I would have thought when I was looking for an oncology surgeon and had to stumble over a doctor’s office named: Dr. X, kidny cancer surgeon.
