I was looking on the web for a mesothelioma picture database or mesothelioma pictures in general. It is actually interesting. There are quite a few resources out there that provide pictures on cancers, but mesothelioma pictures were extremely hard to find.
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that carries a rather poor prognosis. There are several good treatment protocols available though, and research and science are moving into the right direction, constantly developing new promising therapies.
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer back in March of 2009. We went through a rough period, because we didn’t know anything about cancer before we received her diagnosis. She had three surgeries done until the last one finally came back with clear margins.
Once we slowly recovered from the shock another surprise was waiting for us. On October 1 of 2009, seven months after my wife, I received my own cancer diagnosis. After I saw blood in my urine, I went to see an urologist. He sent me for a CT-Scan, but the slides indicated a 6.2 cm tumor in my left kidney. The cancer pictures and my CT slides are actually on my homepage if you want to check them out.
I had a PET Scan done and a Cystoscopy where more pictures of the cancer were taken. It was kind of weird, seeing such a large mass and knowing that it was growing inside of me. I was emotionally okay, since my wife and I already went trough the cancer roller coaster with her cancer. I remember very well when she went for a biopsy and MRI and the doctor actually showed me the images they had taken, so basically her breast cancer pictures. That scared me way more than my own cancer pictures.
But anyway, my kidney was removed on November 30 of 2009 via a laparoscopic robotic radical nephrectomy at Columbia University of the New York Presbyterian Hospital. The surgery went well, and if you want to see some cancer surgery pictures, they are available on their website or in my blog.
The scariest cancer picture ever, even though it is not a mesothelioma cancer picture, is the one on my homepage. It shows a cut in half kidney with a large mass inside. That’s probably how my kidney looked like when they performed the pathology on it. But I warn you: cancer pictures are not a pleasant sight. Unless you are cancer surgeon, then you might look at them through different eyes for obvious reasons.
